Biographical Files
A to Z files of clippings and found materials about individual lesbians curated and culled by our collective, volunteers, and other community members.
We currently have over 3,000 biographical files. These files are arranged alphabetically by the first name of the Lesbian. As opposed to Special Collections, which contain material donated by individual Lesbians, these files primarily contain public materials we have found that contain information about well-known and not-well-known Lesbians. So, while we might file an article about Eleanor Roosevelt, Martina Navratilova, or Eva Le Galliene, we also create files for Lesbians who have marriage or commitment ceremony announcements or obituaries in local papers, who give a reading or have an art exhibit. Some biographical files also contain correspondence or individual documents sent by or about a Lesbian.
