An Update on the Lesbian Elders Oral Herstory Project
SEEKING VOLUNTEERS: LESBIAN ELDERS
We are excited to share an update on the Lesbian Elders Oral Herstory Project!
Thanks to a great response to our launch announcement in May, we met with engaged members of the LGBTQIA+ community via Zoom from all over the country (and Mexico and Canada!). Through three informational meetings, folks—across generations—learned about conducting oral history interviews, convened as a community, and, through that collective experience, began the process of story sharing!
Several Oral Herstories have been recorded from that initial volunteer pool. We look forward to housing, preserving, and sharing the unique experiences of the interviewees: their joys, challenges, loves, losses, and lives.
At this time we are seeking more Lesbian Elders who would be open to sharing their stories with the community. Our next set of online informational sessions will be held this Fall. If you are an Elder that has not yet signed up and are interested, please see the Participation page located on our website. If you have already signed up, either as an interviewee or interviewer, you will be included in the email announcing the next dates.
Feel free to contact us with any questions at lesbianeldersoralherstory@gmail.com.
Best,
The LEOHP Team
Julia, Minda, and Nora
